Cooking is a hot topic for kids these days. They're taking classes, learning through YouTube, Websites, and TV. In fact, the following four dishes were developed by kids who took Hy-Vee cooking classes. Check 'em out and get cooking with the kids.

  1. Crispy Quinoa-Coated Chicken Bites

12-year-old Mia has taken cooking classes at Hy-Vee for six years. During that time, she’s progressed from small desserts to entrées.

  2. Grilled Cheese with Turkey

Tayler has taken a number of classes at her local Hy-Vee and is excited to try new recipes. Her delicious version of grilled cheese includes turkey—the secret ingredient, she says.

  3. Fab Fruit Pizzas

After his older brother stirred his interest in cooking, 15-year-old Hunter started learning from online videos. Whenever he has a free moment, he searches for a new recipe or cooking techniques to try. His playful take on pizza is a new fave dessert.

  4. Sundae Salad

When Garrett, 14, saw her Sundae Salad, she couldn’t hold back a big smile. “It’s beautiful,” she says. Easy to prepare, it mimics an ice cream sundae using a cherry tomato and sprinkles of shredded carrot and crumbled bacon on top.
