    2 c. Hy-Vee all-purpose flour, divided, plus additional as needed
    3 tbsp. Hy-Vee granulated sugar
    1 (0.25-oz.) pkg. rapid rise yeast
    1 c. Hy-Vee fat-free milk, lukewarm (105 to 110 degrees)
    1 c. Hy-Vee whole wheat flour
    3 tbsp. Hy-Vee canola oil
    1 tsp. Hy-Vee salt
    Hy-Vee unsalted butter, for brushing, if desired

    • 1-gallon resalable plastic bag
    • 2 (4-3/4x3-1/4x1-7/8-inch) mini aluminum foil loaf pans
    • Plastic wrap

    Directions

    1. Add 1 cup all-purpose flour, sugar, and yeast to a 1-gallon resealable plastic bag. Add lukewarm milk. Seal bag and squeeze with hands to combine ingredients. Let rest for 10 minutes. 

    2. Open bag; add whole wheat flour, canola oil, and salt. Seal bag and combine ingredients. Add additional 1 cup all-purpose flour; seal bag and combine. Remove dough from bag to a lightly floured surface. Knead 5 to 10 minutes or until smooth, adding additional flour, if needed. 

    3. Divide dough in half; place in 2 greased foil mini loaf pans (4-3/4x3-1/4x1-7/8-inch). Cover; let rise in warm place 1 hour or until double. 

    4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. If desired, spread butter on top of hot loaves. Remove from tins; cool completely on a wire rack.
