Chewy Caramel Oatmeal Bars

2 c. Hy-Vee flour | ||
2 c. uncooked Hy-Vee quick oats | ||
1 ½ c. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar | ||
½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt | ||
1 tsp. Hy-Vee baking soda | ||
1 ½ c. Hy-Vee unsalted butter, melted | ||
1 (12 oz bag) Hy-Vee semi-sweet chocolate chips | ||
1 (14 oz bag) caramels (about 40) | ||
5 tbsp. skim milk |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, soda and butter. Press half into a 9-by-13-inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramels and milk. Microwave on HIGH until melted, about 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Pour over chocolate chips. Sprinkle remaining half of crust mixture over caramel layer.
- Bake 20 minutes. Cool completely before serving.
