    1 ½ lbs. 93% lean ground beef
    10 Hy-Vee whole grain hamburger buns
    1 (15-oz.) can Hy-Vee no-salt-added black beans, drained and rinsed
    ¼ c. Hy-Vee tomato paste
    1 c. yellow onion, finely chopped
    ¼ c. fresh cilantro, finely chopped
    1 fresh jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
    1 ½ tsp. Hy-Vee ground cumin
    1 tsp. Hy-Vee salt
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee ground black pepper
    Desired toppers, such as: avocado, ranch dressing, sour cream or yogurt, and/or salsa

    Directions

    1. Arrange oven rack so it is 5-to-6-inches away from the boiler. Preheat broiler on HIGH.

    2. Cut 2 hamburger buns into 1/4-inch cubes. Combine cubed buns, beans, and tomato paste in a large bowl. Using a potato masher, mash to combine. Add ground beef, onion, cilantro, jalapeno, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, being sure not to over mix. Shape into 8 (3/4-inch-thick) patties.

    3. Place patties on rack of a broiler pan; place in preheated oven. Broil 12 to 14 minutes or until done (160 degrees), flipping once halfway through.

    4. Place burger on bun bottoms and top with avocado slices, ranch dressing, sour cream or yogurt, and/or salsa, if desired.
