1 lbs. Oreo cookies
1 c. margarine, melted
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1 c. powdered sugar
1 (16 oz) container Cool Whip, thawed
1 large pkg instant chocolate pudding, plus ingredients called for on package
maraschino cherries, optional


  1. Crush Oreo cookies. Reserve 1/2 cup of crumbs. Mix remaining crumbs with melted margarine. Press into bottom of 9-by-13-inch cake pan. Refrigerate 1 hour.
  2. Beat together cream cheese and powdered sugar. Fold in half the Cool Whip. Spread over cookie layer and refrigerate 1 hour.
  3. Prepare pudding according to package directions. Spread over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 1 hour.
  4. Spread remaining Cool Whip over pudding layer. Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.
  5. Garnish with maraschino cherries, if desired.
