⅓ c. unsweetened cocoa
⅔ c. sugar
1 large egg
2 tbsp. cold water or brewed coffee
2 tbsp. (heaping) margarine, softened
1 tsp. instant coffee granules


  1. Mix cocoa, sugar, egg and water in a 1-quart saucepan. Place over low heat and cook, but NOT boil. Remove from heat when first bubbles appear. Cool.
  2. Add margarine and instant coffee. Beat with an electric mixer until very light and fluffy.
