    Hy-Vee canola oil, for deep-frying
    1 c. Hy-Vee all-purpose flour
    1 c. beer
    ¼ tsp. Hy-Vee garlic powder
1 large yellow onion, cut into thinly sliced rings
    Hy-Vee salt, to taste

    Directions

    1. In a deep fryer or large heavy saucepan suitable for deep-frying, heat oil to 365 degreesF. Follow instructions for quantity of oil for deep fryer. For heavy saucepan, allow at least 2 inches of oil.
