    Things To Grab

    • 9-inch springform pan
    • Small saucepan
    • Whisk

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

    2. Lightly brush the inside of a 9-inch springform pan with 2 tablespoons melted butter. Set greased springform pan on top; set aside.

    3. Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan and add baking soda. Once baking soda is dissolved, remove from heat and set aside to cool.

    4. Unroll pizza dough and cut into 5 sections. Wrap each bratwurst with one square of pizza dough. Slice each pizza dough-wrapped brat into 4 equal pieces and place brat side up, ¼-inch apart, in prepared springform pan. Line 12 wrapped brats around the inside edge of pan, then line 8 wrapped brats for inner ring. Leave an empty space in the middle for sauce bowl to be placed after cooking.

    5. Brush the dough with cooled baking soda and water mixture; brush with egg yolk. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until pizza dough is golden brown and brats are heated through.

    6. Meanwhile, melt 2 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan. Whisk in flour and cook, stirring constantly, over medium-low heat until mixture begins to bubble, about 2 to 3 minutes. Vigorously whisk in milk and then beer; whisk until mixture thickens. Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, cayenne pepper; continue to whisk vigorously until mixture is smooth.

    7. Stir in cheese and whisk until melted; remove from heat. Serve brat ring with beer cheese and garnish with fresh thyme, if desired.
