    2 c. sugar
    ½ c. water
    ½ c. light corn syrup
    ¼ tsp. salt
    1 tsp. anise oil
    1 tsp. red food coloring


    1. Mix sugar, water, syrup, and salt in saucepan. Heat mixture slowly, sitrring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
    2. Bring to a rapid boil and cook to 300 degrees (candy thermometer) or hard-crack stage; add coloring and anise oil. Rock the pan; do not stir.
    3. Pour into buttered pans and cut into squares before cold. Also works great to pour into 2 miniature ice cube trays sprayed with Pam.
