Dinner Rolls for a Crowd

4 c. milk, scalded | ||
3 packet(s) dry yeast | ||
¾ c. eggs | ||
6 ¾ tbsp. sugar | ||
1 ½ tbsp. salt | ||
1 ¼ c. soft shortening | ||
13 c. flour |
Directions
- Allow scalded milk to cool until warm. Dissolve yeast in warm milk.
- Beat together eggs, sugar and salt. Stir in yeast/milk mixture, salt, shortening and flour. Knead on a lightly floured surface. Cover with a tea towel and let rise for 2 hours.
- Punch down and let rise 10 minutes. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with round cutter. Fold dough over and pinch together.
- Place rolls on greased cookie sheet. Let rise. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped on the bottom.
