    Ingredients
    Serves 36
    QuantityIngredientAdd
    2 c. Hy-Vee flour
    ¾ c. Hy-Vee granulated sugar
    1 c. Hy-Vee slivered almonds
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee baking soda
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee baking powder
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt
    ¼ tsp. Hy-Vee cinnamon
    ⅓ c. Hy-Vee honey
    ⅓ c. water
    ¼ tsp. almond extract

    Directions

    1. Whisk together flour, sugar, almonds, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon in a large bowl. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, water and almond extract; add to dry ingredients and mix well.
    2. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide in half and form each portion into a log about 12 inches long and 3/4-inch wide. Place on a baking sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
    3. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes. Leave oven on.
    4. Place logs on cutting board. With serrated knife, cut each log diagonally into 1/2-inch slices, using a sawing motion. Place slices cut-side up on baking sheet. Bake for an additional 15 minutes. Centers will be slightly soft, but will harden as they cool.
    5. Cool on wire racks before storing in an airtight container.
