8 Game Day Wing Recipes to Help You Root for Your Team

Who's your team? Do you root for your hometown team or a team from another state? We're not here to judge, but we are here to supply you with the flavors of your teams' cities! Plus, you don't even have to bake the wings from scratch! Call or submit an order online to your local Hy-Vee to order plain wings from the kitchen. When you get home, cover the wings in one of our flavorful homemade sauces. 

  1. Minneapolis

    PB&J Wing Sauce
    Combine 1/4 cup Hy-Vee light coconut milk and 1/4 cup Hy-Vee creamy peanut butter. Add Hy-Vee honey and salt to taste; set aside. Melt 1 tablespoon Hy-Vee salted butter in a microwave-safe glass measuring cup in the microwave for 20 seconds. Stir in 1/2 cup Hy-Vee grape jelly and 1 tablespoon canned chipotle pepper puree. Dip wings into peanut butter sauce; drizzle with grape jelly sauce. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts, if desired. Makes 1/2 cup each sauce. 

  2. Buffalo

    Buffalo Blue Cheese Wing Sauce
    Combine 1 cup Hy-Vee Hickory House Big Bad Buffalo wing sauce, 1/4 cup Hy-Vee salted butter, and 1/2 teaspoon Hy-Vee garlic powder in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until butter is melted; cool. Stir in 1/4 cup finely crumbled blue cheese. Makes 1-1/2 cups.

  3. New Orleans

    Cajun Beer Sauce
    Cook 1/4 cup Hy-Vee Short Cuts chopped onions and 1/4 cup Hy-Vee Short Cuts chopped red bell peppers in 2 tablespoons Hy-Vee salted butter over medium heat for 5 minutes or until tender. Combine 1 tablespoon Hy-Vee cornstarch and 1/2 cup cold water; add to onion mixture along with 1/2 cup amber ale beer and 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 1 minute more. Makes 1-1/4 cups.

  4. Seattle

    Cherry-Habanero Sauce
    Stir together 3/4 cup Hy-Vee cherry preserves with 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice and desired amount of habanero hot pepper sauce. Makes about 1 cup.

  5. Chicago

    Parmesan-Garlic Butter Sauce
    Melt 1/2 cup Hy-Vee salted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 1/2 cup Hy-Vee grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh oregano, 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh basil, 1 teaspoon Hy-Vee garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon Hy-Vee ground black pepper. Makes 1 cup.

  6. San Francisco

    Combine 1/3 cup Hy-Vee Korean gochujang sauce, 1/3 cup packed Hy-Vee brown sugar, 2 tablespoons Hy-Vee soy sauce, and 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar in a small saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Sprinkle wings with sesame seeds. Makes about 1 cup.

  7. Green Bay

    Jalapeno Wing Sauce
    Melt 1/4 cup Hy-Vee salted butter in a small saucepan. Stir in 1/4 cup Frank's RedHot sauce and 3/4 cup Hy-Vee finely shredded sharp Cheddar cheese. Cook over medium heat until cheese is melted. Gradually add 1/3 cup Hy-Vee heavy whipping cream and 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped. Heat through. Makes 1-1/4 cups.

  8. Kansas City

    Honey BBQ Sauce
    Combine 1/2 cup hickory-smoked barbecue sauce, 1/4 cup Hy-Vee honey, 1 tablespoon Hy-Vee ketchup 1 tablespoon hot sauce, 2 tablespoons Hy-Vee salted butter, and 1/4 teaspoon Hy-Vee garlic powder in a small saucepan. Simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in liquid smoke to taste, if desired. Makes about 1 cup.
