Make Homemade Soda: In a large freezer grade container, add hot water and stir in sugar. Mix in food coloring and desired flavoring. Carefully add dry ice, a little at a time, to the hot water mixture. The soda will carbonate, smoke, and chill the soda. Once the soda is cold and the dry ice has dissolved and is no longer bubbling and smoking, cover soda and place in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Hyvee Culinary Expert Tip
Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. Adding it to liquids helps it freeze and adds carbonation. Be careful when handling dry ice as it is very cold and can burn your skin. Never allow dry ice to make direct contact with your skin or ingest it in its frozen state.Make Electric! Ice Cream: In an extra-large freezer grade container, mix milk, cream, sugar, food coloring, and vanilla. Whisk in dry ice, 1/4 cup at a time, until mixture is foamy, chilled, and reaches a soft-serve ice cream consistency. Place ice cream in the freezer to harden for 15 to 30 minutes.
Make the Kaboom Floats: Divide homemade soda between 6 clear glasses. Drop 1 tablespoon crushed blue candies into the bottom of each glass. Top each glass of soda with 1 to 2 scoops of Electric! Ice Cream. If desired, top with pop rocks.
