    Things To Grab

    • 9x13-inch baking pan
    • Hy-Vee nonstick cooking spray
    • Electric mixer
    • Wooden toothpick
    • Wire cooling rack
    • Large bowl
    • Parchment paper
    • Baking sheet

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray; set aside. Beat together cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and egg whites with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 24 to 28 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Remove from oven and place on wire cooling rack. Cool completely.

    2. Crumble cooled cake in a large bowl; stir in frosting until well-combined. Shape mixture into 49 tablespoon-size balls, place on parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate until frim.

    3. Make Royal Icing: Combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and cream of tartar. Using an electric mixer, beat in warm water and vanilla extract. Continue beating for 7 to 10 minutes or until well-combined and stiff. Tint with green food coloring.

    4. Dip 45 cake balls into tinted icing allowing excess to drip off; return to baking sheet. Sprinkle with green sanding sugar.

    5. Melt chocolate almond bark according to package directions. Dip remaining 4 cake balls in chocolate and add to parchment-lined baking sheet. Allow to stand until all cake balls are set.

    6. Arrange green cake balls into a tree and chocolate cake balls into a trunk. If desired, decorate with Twizzlers Pull 'n' Peel candy and M&M's for garland and lights.
