    Valentine's Day is known for gifts like flowers and chocolate. But for some, the way to their heart is through bacon! Follow a few simple steps below, and you'll have bacon roses for your sweetheart (or yourself) for breakfast or brunch.

    1. Gather your ingredients and tools: one 16 oz. package of Hy-Vee bacon, paring knife, muffin tin and toothpicks. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. To create roses, take one strip of bacon and roll it tightly halfway. Once halfway rolled, begin twisting the bacon strip as you finish rolling it together.

    2. Secure bacon rose with a toothpick and place into muffin tin. Repeat with all strips of bacon. Sprinkle bacon roses with brown sugar to add sweetness and caramelization, if desired.

    3. Cook at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes. Let cool; plate on basil leaves for added rose effect, if desired.
