- One of my all-time favorite kitchen tools is the Microplane classic zester/grater, which makes some of the most daunting tasks in the kitchen, such as mincing garlic or ginger, effortless.
- Originally a woodworking tool, the extremely sharp blade, made of surgical-grade stainless steel, grates even the hardest Parmigiano Reggiano and other hard cheeses into fine lacy wisps ideal for topping your favorite spaghetti and meatballs or a Caesar salad.
- It's also great for zesting citrus to add natural flavors to a lemon crème brulee or a basic vinaigrette. Take care to only grate the colored rind, not the bitter white pith.
