QuantityIngredientAdd
1 (8- to 10-lb.) Hy-Vee brown sugar spiral-sliced half ham
3 tbsp. Char Crust roasted garlic and peppercorn dry-rub seasoning
3 tbsp. Gustare Vita olive oil
2 tbsp. Hy-Vee dark brown sugar
Desired garnishes, such as fresh herbs, roasted garlic bulbs, citrus slices and/or berries

Things To Grab

  • Large shallow roasting pan with roasting rack
  • 2 large cutting boards
  • Small bowl
  • Small silicone spatula
  • Foil
  • Silicone pastry brush
  • Meat thermometer
  • Large serving platter

Directions

  1. Place a roasting rack in a large shallow roasting pan. Add 1½ cups water to roasting pan; set aside.

  2. Place ham on a large cutting board; set glaze packet aside. Stir together rub seasoning, oil and brown sugar in a small bowl. Rub mixture over ham. Let stand for 1 hour. During the last 20 minutes of standing, place oven rack in lower third of oven and preheat oven to 325 degrees.

  3. Place ham on rack in roasting pan. Cover tightly with foil. Roast ham for 1 hour or until ham reaches 125 to 130 degrees. Remove ham from oven; set aside.

  4. Increase oven temperature to 425 degrees. Meanwhile, prepare reserved glaze packet according to pkg. directions. Uncover ham; brush with glaze. Return ham to oven; roast, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes or until ham reaches 140 degrees and glaze is sticky.

  5. Transfer ham to a clean cutting board. Loosely cover with foil and let stand for 10 minutes. Slice ham and arrange on platter; garnish with citrus, garlic bulbs, fresh herbs and berries, if desired.
