2 large yellow onions, sliced 1/4-inch-thick
2 tbsp. Hy-Vee unsalted butter
2 tbsp. Hy-Vee canola oil
¼ tsp. Hy-Vee cayenne pepper, optional
1 tsp. kosher salt
½ tsp. Hy-Vee ground black pepper
2 tsp. Gustare Vita balsamic vinegar

Directions

  1. Heat a large, skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and canola oil to hot pan. Once butter has melted, add onions, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Saute for 10 minutes, or until onions have softened. 

  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally until the onions are browned and caramelized.

  3. Stir in the balsamic vinegar and cook an additional 10 minutes. Remove from the heat; transfer to a serving bowl and cool to room temperature.
