2 clove(s) garlic, minced
2 shallots, finely chopped
3 tbsp. Hy-Vee stone ground mustard
6 tbsp. Hy-Vee sour cream
1 (12-oz.) bottle lager beer
2 tsp. Hy-Vee granulated sugar
1 tsp. dried dill
½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt
2 tbsp. fresh live mussels, in shells, scrubbed
Fresh dill, for garnish
Hy-Vee Bakery bread, toasted, for serving

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a large stockpot over medium heat. Add garlic and shallots. Saute 3 minutes, or until fragrant and slightly softened.

  2. Stir in mustard, sour cream, lager, sugar, dried dill, and salt. Bring to a simmer. Add mussels to stockpot; cover with a tight fitting lid. Steam mussels 5 to 7 minutes or until mussels have steamed opened. Discard any unopened mussels.

  3. Remove mussels from heat; garnish with fresh dill and serve with toasted bread, if desired.
