MASON CITY, Iowa (June 5, 2026) — The helpful smile of a Mason City Hy-Vee employee is now featured on the side of a semi-trailer to recognize the more than 40 years of service she has dedicated to the company.
Deb Buland’s picture was unveiled Friday morning during a celebration at the Mason City West Hy-Vee. Buland first started at the store in 1979 as a part-time checker and served in a variety of roles before beginning in her current position as retail product and pricing manager.
Buland has spent her entire career at the Mason City West Hy-Vee because of the strong relationships she has built with co-workers and customers over the decades.
“I like the people I work with and it’s a good place to work,” Buland said. “You get to know the people and they know you and they just associate you with Hy-Vee.”
Hy-Vee first started featuring long-serving employees on semi-truck wraps in 1997, and it has since become a cherished tradition at the company.
