Hy-Vee Partners with Iowa 80 Truckstop to Host COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics, Vaccinating Hundreds

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (May 18, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that in partnership with Iowa 80 Truckstop, the world’s largest truckstop, it helped vaccinate 230 individuals through its COVID-19 vaccination clinics, which were held between May 10-16.
Truck drivers, truckstop employees, and local community residents had the opportunity to receive the vaccine at the truckstop in Walcott, Iowa. Individuals had the option to select between the two-dose series Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, available for individuals 12 years of age and older, and the single-dose Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine, available for individuals 18 years of age and older.
“Thanks to our partnership with Iowa 80 Truckstop, we were able to make the COVID-19 vaccine more accessible for those within the transportation industry, resulting in the vaccination of hundreds,” said Angie Danielson, pharmacy supervisor for Hy-Vee’s east region.
“We appreciate Hy-Vee’s support that allowed Iowa 80 to conduct this vaccine clinic,” said Delia Moon Meier, Senior Vice President of Iowa 80 Truckstop. “Professional drivers have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic and we have been working to be able to make it convenient for them to get vaccinated.
