Hy-Vee Partnered with SALUD! to Provide COVID-19 Vaccines for the Laotian Community in Storm Lake, Iowa, on Sunday April 11

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (April 12, 2021) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that it partnered with SALUD! Multicultural Health Coalition to host an information session and COVID-19 vaccination clinic for the Laotian community in Storm Lake, Iowa, on Sunday, April 11.
The information session and vaccination clinic were held at the East Early Childhood Center gym in Storm Lake for Laotians 16 years of age and older. Altogether, more than 40 individuals were vaccinated at the clinic with Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. A second dose vaccination clinic for vaccine recipients will take place on Sunday, May 2 at the same location.
SALUD! initiated the clinic through its connections within the Laotian community. Prior to the clinic, an information session addressed COVID-19 vaccination progress, vaccination concerns and possible vaccine side effects. Laotian community leaders Pom Kavan and John Khampavong helped interpret and field questions from attendees. During the vaccination clinic, translated documents were used and interpreters were onsite to help communicate about the vaccination process.

Hy-Vee and SALUD! plan to collaborate to host additional vaccination clinics for other populations within the Storm Lake community over the next two months.
