January 9, 2019 | News & Press Releases

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Jan. 9, 2019) — Mount Vernon native Stacey Loftus was named to the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame in December. Loftus, assistant vice president of retail dietetics, southern region, was recently honored with the 2018 Community Involvement Award, Staff Member, at the company’s annual stockholders’ meeting.

Loftus’ extensive involvement in her community and the way she serves those around her on a daily basis has earned her this honor. She is dedicated to serving her community, church and school system. Loftus has managed to integrate her love of dietetics into helping the people in her community in a variety of ways. Loftus has impacted her community tremendously by serving as the nominating chair for the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the chair/president of Iowa Dietetics licensure board and a member of the ISU External Advisory Committee. At her church, she serves as a second-grade catechism teacher, a student mentor and fellowship volunteer.

She is president-elect of her local Kiwanis Club, a member of Harrison Healthy Coalition and a member of the Iowa Diabetics Prevention Program. Her involvement carries on into her sons’ school, as she volunteers as a member of the teacher support organization and booster club, serves as a school room parent and coaches soccer. While being active in the community, she still managed to complete the Ronald D. Pearson Citizenship Program, which honors Hy-Vee employees for their service to their communities.

Hy-Vee Chairman, CEO and President Randy Edeker saluted Loftus for the dedication she brings to both her work at Hy-Vee and the variety of committees she is active within the community.

“Stacey brings great passion and dedication to everything she does within Hy-Vee and in her life away from Hy-Vee,” Edeker said. “Stacey’s level of involvement in her community is a perfect example of what is expected of the winner of this award, and I’m so proud of all that she has accomplished.”

Loftus began her Hy-Vee career in 2008 at Marshalltown as the dietitian, then took on a role of HealthMarket manager in 2009. In 2010, she became the dietitian at the West Broadway Hy-Vee in Council Bluffs and in 2012, was promoted to health & wellness supervisor. In 2014, Loftus was named retail dietetic supervisor and received the Iowa Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Emerging Leader Award. In addition, she also received the Young Dietitian Award in 2016. She moved to her current position as assistant vice president of retail dietetics, southern region, in 2017.

Loftus graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Iowa State University.
