Hy-Vee Partners with Christ Apostolic Temple to Host a Series of Free COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (Feb. 17, 2022) — Hy-Vee, Inc. announces today that in partnership with Christ Apostolic Temple, it will host a series of free COVID-19 vaccination clinics throughout the Des Moines metro. Individuals will be able to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine or COVID-19 booster at each of the clinics.
In conjunction, Christ Apostolic Temple will offer free transportation to and from each of the clinics for individuals who may need transportation assistance. To request a ride, individuals can contact the church at (515) 265-4070.
The first clinic will be Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 3-5 p.m. at Christ Apostolic Temple, located at 1230 E. 17th Street in Des Moines. Free Pfizer-BioNTech (for ages 12+) and Moderna (for ages 18+) COVID-19 vaccines and boosters will be available at the clinic. While appointments are recommended, they are not required and walk-ins are welcome. Individuals who need assistance scheduling their vaccination can call the church at (515) 265-4070.

A parent or legal guardian must consent to the vaccination and accompany all minors to their vaccinations. Individuals who receive a COVID-19 vaccine with Hy-Vee between Feb. 1 and April 30, 2022, can earn a 50-cent Hy-Vee Fuel Saver reward.
It is recommended (but not required) that vaccine recipients bring the following to their vaccination: COVID-19 vaccination record card (if applicable); insurance card (if they have insurance) and Medicare Part B red, white and blue card (if Medicare recipient); and photo ID. Masks are required. If individuals do not have insurance, they can still be vaccinated.
Hy-Vee and Christ Apostolic Temple plan to hold additional COVID-19 vaccination clinics around the Des Moines metro in the following months. More details will be shared in the following weeks.

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine approved for ages 12+ requires two doses that should be administered at least 21 days apart. The CDC also recommends that individuals receive a COVID-19 booster at least 5 months after their second dose using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna).
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine approved for ages 18+ requires two doses that should be administered at least 28 days apart. The CDC also recommends that individuals receive a COVID-19 booster at least 5 months after their second dose using an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna).
Individuals who receive a first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose at the Feb. 23 clinic may visit their local Hy-Vee Pharmacy to receive any additional COVID-19 vaccine doses within the designated timeline for their vaccine manufacturer.
