Hy-Vee and Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to Hold In-Person Sign Up Hours on Thursday, March 18 in Advance of Next COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (March 16, 2021) — Hy-Vee and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) in Kansas City, Missouri, are holding in-person sign up hours for individuals who are seeking to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at Hy-Vee and NLBM’s next community vaccination clinic, which will be held Monday, March 22.
Residents of Kansas City’s 18th & Vine District are invited to stop by the NLBM, located at 1616 E. 18th Street in Kansas City, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 18 to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination appointment. The sign up event is intended to assist underserved residents in the community who may not have internet access or need additional assistance with signing up.
Vaccines are available by appointment only to individuals included within Missouri’s Phase 1B, Tier 2 and Phase 1B, Tier 3. Those tiers include:
• Pre-K through 12 teachers and staff, staff at childcare centers, family childcare providers, and Head Start and Early Head Start staff members
• Individuals 65 years of age and older
• Adults with cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD, heart conditions, weakened immune system due to organ transplant, severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome.
• Critical infrastructure workers in the following industries:
o Communications
o Dams sector
o Energy sector
o Food and agriculture sector
o Government
o Information technology and more
This will be the second community vaccination clinic hosted by Hy-Vee and the NLBM. The clinics are held every Monday at the NLBM until further notice.
At the March 22 clinic, nearly 650 individuals are expected to be vaccinated. The total number of vaccination appointments available each week will vary depending on vaccine supply. Recipients of the vaccine will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Individuals will be scheduled for a second dose appointment approximately 21 days after their first dose appointment.
