WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (April 25, 2019) - Kenneth George of Cherokee was one of four drivers inducted into the National Private Truck Council’s (NPTC) Driver Hall of Fame on April 15 during the organization’s 2019 Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Driver Hall of Fame and the event is designed to recognize top drivers for career safety performance.

George has been a driver for 42 years, racking up 3.5 million miles without an accident or moving violation. More than 2 million of those miles have come with Hy-Vee since George joined the company in 1990. He started driving on a farm while in high school, eventually moving to transporting livestock. George is currently a driver for Hy-Vee’s Cherokee Distribution Center, which delivers perishable and non-perishable goods to more than 245 stores across Hy-Vee’s eight-state region.

“Kenny exemplifies the Hy-Vee fundamentals every day in the way he takes care of our customers, both while delivering to our stores as well as when driving safely on the roadways,” said Jody Sandy, Hy-Vee’s vice president of supply chain, Lomar, which is the company’s specialty foods distribution center. “His positive attitude and genuine, humble demeanor are examples we can all aspire to learn from. We are so proud to have Kenny represent Hy-Vee by being the first Hy-Vee driver inducted into the National Private Truck Council’s Driver Hall of Fame.”

Hy-Vee Cherokee and Chariton distribution centers employ experienced, quality drivers who uphold Hy-Vee’s trust, responsibility and integrity each and every day to ensure customers’ lives are easier, healthier and happier. In 2018 alone, Hy-Vee had 124 drivers receive incremental awards up to and including eight drivers who were awarded for one million safe and accident-free miles.
