Chef Jorge was born in Puerto Rico to a family steeped in the food industry. His three uncles, who are chefs, run businesses in Puerto Rico. He has 26 years of experience in the food industry. Early in 1988, he started as a line cook at a steak house in Puerto Rico. He attended Universidad de Puerto Rico for marketing, advertising and graphic arts prior to earning his Certificate in Culinary Art from the Instituto Educacion Universal in Puerto Rico in 1995. He was the food service director and then the chef manager for Aramark Food Services in Puerto Rico. He then became assistant manager for Eurest Dining Group in Puerto Rico. Chef Jorge worked in the Owatonna Hy-Vee kitchen for one year before starting as the chef.
