    1 packet(s) yellow cake mix, plus ingredients called for on package
    1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, undrained
    1 (3.4 oz) pkg vanilla instant pudding mix plus ingredients called for on package
    1 (8 oz) container Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed
    chopped nuts, optional


    1. Prepare and bake cake in a 9-by-13-inch pan according to package directions. Cool.
    2. When cake is cool, poke holes in the cake with a wooden spoon handle. Pour can of undrained crushed pineapple evenly on top of cake, making sure some of fruit gets into the holes.
    3. Prepare instant vanilla pudding as directed on package. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread on top of cake. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired.
    4. Refrigerate until set.
