Pineapple Ice Box Dessert

|1 packet(s) yellow cake mix, plus ingredients called for on package|
|1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, undrained|
|1 (3.4 oz) pkg vanilla instant pudding mix plus ingredients called for on package|
|1 (8 oz) container Cool Whip whipped topping, thawed|
|chopped nuts, optional|
- Prepare and bake cake in a 9-by-13-inch pan according to package directions. Cool.
- When cake is cool, poke holes in the cake with a wooden spoon handle. Pour can of undrained crushed pineapple evenly on top of cake, making sure some of fruit gets into the holes.
- Prepare instant vanilla pudding as directed on package. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread on top of cake. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired.
- Refrigerate until set.
