August Dietitian Pick of the Month - Ripple

June 2023 Dietitian Pick of the Month—Lifeway Kefir

Let's Get Ready to Ripple!

From almond milk to soy and rice options, it’s no secret that the supermarket shelves are becoming crowded with non-dairy beverages and creamers. While you may be familiar with these alternatives, there is one in particular that’s taken the health world by storm: Ripple, a pea protein-based brand that creates creamy and protein-filled products like Plant-Based milk and half-and-half. Utilizing the power little yellow pea, Ripple’s products have a creamy texture that’s similar to cow’s milk – which is just the start of the many positive benefits of this milk alternative.

  1. Allergen-Friendly: You guessed it – it’s a safe and an appropriate option for those with a dairy allergy or a lactose intolerance. With a nutritional profile that closely represents cow’s milk, you and your gut can feel good about pouring a glass alongside any meal or snack.
  2. Kid-Approved: Ripple Kids was developed with key nutrients specifically for growing kids. Ripple Kids contains the same high quality plant-based protein along with the omega-3 DHA and choline for brain-building nutrition. And, for parents looking to reduce the entire family’s sugar intake, Ripple Kids Unsweetened Original has zero added sugar!
  3. Protein-Packed: The con to most nut milks just so happens to be the pro to this pea protein packed pick. One cup of Ripple contains 8 grams of this muscle-building nutrient, which you’ll find in an equal serving of cow’s milk. For an additional comparison, conventional almond milk varieties have just 1 gram of protein per cup. Cheers to that!
  4. Convenient Calcium: Got milk and calcium? With Ripple, that’s not a problem! The Ripple Unsweetened variety contains more calcium per cup compared to cow’s milk. Our bodies need it, and our bones depend on this nutrient, especially as we age. Therefore, don’t fall short when living a dairy-free lifestyle.

In addition, Hy-Vee now carries Ripple's fan favorite Plant-Based Half & Half. Whether you are cooking or like your coffee creamy, Ripple Half & Half is all that you need (and has no saturated fat or cholesterol) and is top 9 allergen free like all Ripple products.

There you have it – a dairy alternative that’s simply satisfying. Grab a glass or give these recipes below a try and see for yourself. We promise, you won’t be disappointed!

Reduce Food Waste

Leftovers are a great way to use foods in your fridge that otherwise would go to waste. Try to plan one meal per week that involves leftovers.
