Participants will learn to act responsibly with kitchen equipment and tools. Class length will be around 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours. Cost of class is $20.00 per child per class. Class structure includes: Kitchen Safety: What pieces to use and not to use including ovens, ranges, microwaves. Introduction of basic knife cuts of vegetables and starches. Knife safety, identification and usage. Food Safety: Students will be introduced into basic nutritional concerns including diabetes, celiac and other restrictive diets such as soy and nut allergens. Meal Planning: Menu planning and shopping. What do we look for when we shop? Food Preparation: Time to cook! Students will learn hands-on methods of how to cook decided menu. Likely to include breakfast, lunch, dinner, salads, breads, vegetables, starches just to name a few! Menus and recipes included.
