Health experts estimate that as many as three million Americans have anemia, a condition where the body doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen through the body. The most common form of anemia is iron deficiency anemia, where the body doesn't get enough iron from food to create healthy cells. People with anemia often experience tiredness, weakness and shortness of breath. Julie, your Charles City Hy-Vee dietitian, will perform a simple finger stick to collect a blood sample to determine your risk for anemia and provide results within minutes. Registration is required for the free anemia screening and can be done in Customer Service or on-line at hy-vee.com/health. Free anemia screenings are only available while supplies last and are provided in partnership with Sanguina. Direct questions to [email protected]
