Join us for our Kids' One Step Garden Kickoff event! Depending on how spring weather has treated us by May 14, we will either be planting or preparing the flower beds for planting at the kickoff event. Fruit and vegetable samples will also be made available! The Kids' One Step Garden is a nutrition and garden-based program held here at our Silvis Hy-Vee. All children are encouraged to participate, and sessions may be broken down into two age groups depending on age range of participants. The intent of the program is to increase children's preferences for vegetables through the experience of helping to grow and taste featured vegetables. The program will be provided at no cost! On a weekly basis (specific dates and times to be determined at kickoff event), children will be invited to participate in classes in the garden to learn more about vegetables with a focus on food tastings and learning how to care for a garden.
