Hemoglobin A1C is a simple blood test that individuals living with diabetes use to manage their blood glucose levels. Hemoglobin A1c provides an indication of an individual's average blood glucose level over the past 2-3 months. While it is recommended that those living with Diabetes complete 4 Hemoglobin A1C screenings per year (1 every 3 months), many people's insurance only covers two screenings per year. An A1C screening is also a good way for others to find out if they may be at risk for pre-diabetes or diabetes.
Stop by the Hy-Vee Healthy You Mobile bus at your Lenexa Hy-Vee from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, for a FREE screening to see where you stand. Your Lenexa Hy-Vee Dietitian, Jamie, is an expert on nutrition and can provide additional information to help you manage your Diabetes!
Note: You do not have to fast for this test, as the result takes into account your fasting and non-fasting blood glucose levels over the last several months.
