    QuantityIngredientAdd
    2 tbsp. Hy-Vee margarine, melted
    ⅓ c. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar
    9 Hy-Vee maraschino cherries
9 small pear halves, peeled, cored
1 (14.5 oz) package gingerbread mix
    1 c. water

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    2. Pour margarine into the bottom of a 9-by-9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over margarine.
    3. Arrange pear halves, core-side-down on top of brown sugar. Slip a cherry under the wide end of the pear. Cherry should sit easily into the cored hole in pear.
    4. Combine gingerbread mix and water according to package directions. Pour over pear halves.
    5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    6. Cool for 5 minutes. Carefully invert cake onto a serving plate.
