10 c. popped popcorn | ||
2 c. Quaker brown sugar squares cereal | ||
1 c. Hy-Vee brown sugar | ||
½ c. Hy-Vee margarine | ||
¼ c. Hy-Vee honey | ||
⅜ tsp. Hy-Vee baking soda | ||
½ tsp. maple extract | ||
1 c. Hy-Vee whole cashews |
Directions
- Cover a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. Place popcorn and cereal on foil.
- In a large saucepan, stir together brown sugar, margarine and honey. Cook over medium heat until boiling, stirring constantly.
- Continue cooking at a gentle boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in baking soda and extract.
- Pour over popcorn mixture. Add cashews and gently stir until popcorn mixture and cashews are evenly coated.
- Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes. Stir and bake an additional 5 minutes.
- Turn out on waxed paper and allow to cool. Break into chunks.
