    2 c. Hy-Vee whole milk
    1 Hy-Vee large egg
    ½ c. Hy-Vee sugar
    2 tbsp. Hy-Vee cornstarch
    Hy-Vee salt
    1 tbsp. Hy-Vee butter
    1 ½ tsp. Hy-Vee pure vanilla
    Hy-Vee ground cinnamon, optional

    Directions

    1. Prepare rice according to package directions.

    2. Meanwhile, whisk together milk and egg in a heavy saucepan. Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a separate bowl and whisk into milk mixture. Add butter.
    3. Heat over medium heat. Stir slowly and constantly until mixture thickens and starts to boil. Remove from heat.
    4. Stir in vanilla and hot rice. Allow to cool briefly before serving. Sprinkle with cinnamon, if desired.
