    Nothing says “tis’ the season” than cranberries and oranges. Well, that plus a whiskey hot toddy.

    2 c. water
    2 c. Hy-Vee cranberry juice
    1 orange, thinly sliced
    1 c. fresh cranberries
    2 cinnamon sticks
    2 star anise
    2 tbsp. Hy-Vee honey
    12 oz. whiskey, divided
    Hy-Vee brown sugar, for garnish

    • 6 heat-proof glasses or mugs

    Directions

    1. Combine water and cranberry juice in a large saucepan. Add orange slices, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Simmer 15 minutes; strain and discard fruit and spices.

    2. Dip the rims of 6 heat-proof glasses or mugs in water and then immediately into brown sugar. Fill each mug with 2 oz. whiskey and top with even amounts of spiced cranberry juice. If desired, garnish each glass with additional orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.
