Serves 6
1 c. boiling water
1 tbsp. bottled chili sauce
1 c. dry TSP (textured soy protein)
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. finely chopped zucchini
½ c. chopped bell pepper
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
¼ c. bottled chili sauce
½ tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. cider vinegar


  1. Combine boiling water and 1 tablespoon chili sauce. Pour over TSP to rehydrate it. Set aside.
  2. Saute onion, zucchini and bell pepper in a nonstick pan until tender. May need to add a little water to prevent sticking.
  3. Add rehydrated TSP and cook, stirring, for another minute.
  4. Stir tomato sauce, 1/4 cup chili sauce, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and vinegar into TSP mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Serve on hamburger buns.
