2 tbsp. Hy-Vee avocado oil
1 lbs. Bristol Bay sockeye salmon, pin bones and skin removed, cut into 4 fillets
Hy-Vee salt, to taste
Hy-Vee ground black pepper, to taste
1 tsp. Hy-Vee chili powder
1 tsp. Hy-Vee ground cumin
1 tsp. Hy-Vee granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. Add avocado oil to pan.

  2. Pat fillets dry and season with salt and pepper, to taste. In a small bowl, stir together chili powder, cumin, and sugar. Sprinkle seasoning mixture over fillets to coat, patting seasoning into each fillet.

  3. Sear the salmon fillets, about 2 to 3 minutes per side until fish flakes easily with a fork (145 degrees). Remove salmon from pan and serve immediately.
