    1 ½ c. brown sugar
    ½ c. shortening
    1 large egg, beaten
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. milk
    2 c. flour
    ½ tsp. salt
    1 ½ c. finely chopped rhubarb
    ½ c. sugar
    ½ tsp. cinnamon


    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 13-by-9-inch baking dish.
    2. Cream brown sugar and shortening. Beat in egg. Combine baking soda and milk and stir into wet ingredients. Stir in flour and salt. Fold in rhubarb. Spread in prepared pan.
    3. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle on top of cake.
    4. Bake for 45 minutes.
