    2 medium acorn squash, halved and seeded
    2 c. water
    8 tbsp. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar
    4 slice(s) uncooked Hy-Vee applewood-smoked bacon, chopped
    Hy-Vee black pepper, to taste

    Directions

    1. Place squash halves cut-side-up in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Carefully score flesh with a sharp knife. Pour water into baking dish.
    2. Sprinkle each squash half with 2 tablespoons brown sugar and chopped bacon.
    3. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until squash is very soft. Season to taste with pepper.
