    1 c. raisins
    1 c. water
    1 ½ c. sugar
    ¾ c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 large eggs
2 ½ c. Gold Medal whole wheat flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    ½ tsp. baking powder
    ½ tsp. ground cloves

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    3. Combine raisins, 1/2 cup raisin water (or 1/2 cup buttermilk), sugar, shortening, vanilla, eggs, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder, cloves, oatmeal and chopped nuts.
    4. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. If desired, place pecan half on top of each cookie.
    5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
    6. Remove cookies to cooling rack.
