Mongolian Sloppy Joe Sliders
Servings and Ingredients
|2 tsp.||canola oil|
|1||medium red onion, chopped|
|½ c.||minced celery|
|1 c.||diced cremini mushrooms|
|1 ½ tsp.||minced garlic (about 2 cloves)|
|1 lbs.||93%-lean ground sirloin|
|1 ½ tbsp.||sambal oelek or sriracha|
|1 ½ tsp.||minced ginger|
|¼ c.||hoisin sauce|
|2 tbsp.||oyster sauce|
|2 tbsp.||low-sodium tamari or liquid aminos|
|2 tbsp.||lime juice|
|8||Hawaiian rolls or slider buns|
|Shredded iceberg lettuce and spicy pickles, for serving|
- Heat a large, deep skillet over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes; add oil and heat until shimmering. When hot, add onions, celery and mushrooms and cook until vegetables are softened, about 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Add ground sirloin and cook until almost cooked through but still slightly pink, about 3 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spoon.
- Stir in sambal oelek, ginger, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, tamari and honey; bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes, stirring often. Add lime juice and stir to combine. Place about 1/3 cup beef mixture on bottom half of each bun; close sandwiches. Serve with iceberg lettuce and spicy pickles if desired.
- To make ahead, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
