You can cut these sandwiches in half to make easy kid-sized meals or a tray of game-day eats. Either way, the combination of Italian style meatballs smothered in fresh mozzarella on a toasted bun will be a family favorite. And they're ready in less than 10 minutes.
Servings and Ingredients
|4 hoagie buns|
|4 tsp. Hy-Vee Select olive oil|
|¼ tsp. Hy-Vee garlic powder|
|20 Hy-Vee frozen Italian style meatballs|
|½ c. Hy-Vee traditional pasta sauce, divided|
|4 oz. fresh mozzarella, sliced|
|thinly sliced fresh basil, for garnish|
- Preheat broiler to HIGH.
- Open hoagie buns and place, cut side up, on a baking sheet. Combine olive oil and garlic powder; brush over cut sides of buns.
- Microwave meatballs according to package directions. Place 5 meatballs and 2 tablespoons pasta sauce on each sandwich. Arrange sliced fresh mozzarella over meatballs.
- Broil 5 inches from heat about 2 minutes or until edges of buns are toasted and cheese is melted. Garnish with basil, if desired.
