    Warm apple cider gets a vanilla pick-me up with Cross Keys rum. Aged for 5 years, this rum has notes of caramel and vanilla and is only available at Hy-Vee.

    1whole star anise
    1orange, thinly sliced, plus peel for garnish
    ¼ c.Cross Keys rum

    Directions

    1. Combine cider, spices, and orange slices in a saucepan. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, 10 minutes. Stir in rum then strain into mugs. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and orange strips, if desired.
