    6 tbsp.Hy-Vee granulated sugar
    2 tbsp.Hy-Vee cornstarch
    tsp.Hy-Vee salt
    1 ¼ c.Hy-Vee milk
    2Hy-Vee large egg yolks
    1 tbsp.Hy-Vee butter
    1 tsp.Hy-Vee vanilla extract
    1medium banana, sliced

    Directions

    1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Stir in milk until combined. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until thickened and bubbly; reduce heat. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
    2. Lightly beat egg yolks with a fork. Gradually stir about 3/4 cup of the hot mixture into egg yolks. Add to saucepan.
    3. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.
    4. Stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into a bowl; cool slightly. Cover surface with plastic wrap. Chill at least 2 hours. Stir in chopped banana slices.
