    1 c. shortening
    1 c. granulated sugar
    2 large eggs
    ¼ c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 ¼ c. all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    ½ tsp. salt
    Powdered sugar, Sugar Cookie Frosting or icing, optional

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla.
    3. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture.
    4. Dust surface with powdered sugar. Roll out dough, cut with cookie cutters and place on parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
    5. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes.
    6. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
    7. When cookies are cool, dust with powdered sugar of frost with your favorite frosting or icing.
