    1 tsp. Hy-Vee baking soda
    ½ tsp. Hy-Vee salt
    ¾ c. Hy-Vee butter, softened
    ¼ c. Hy-Vee vegetable shortening
    ¾ c. packed Hy-Vee brown sugar
    2 Hy-Vee large eggs
    1 tbsp. Hy-Vee vanilla extract
    1 (12 oz) pkg. Hy-Vee semisweet chocolate chips
    1 c. Hy-Vee chopped walnuts

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    2. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl; set aside.
    3. Beat butter and shortening in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar. Beat on medium for 2 minutes, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much flour mixture as you can with mixer. Stir in any remaining flour mixture; add chocolate chips and nuts.
    4. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Cool cookies on a wire rack.
