    1 (18.25 oz) pkg German chocolate cake mix
    ¾ c. margarine, melted
    ⅔ c. evaporated milk, divided
    40 caramels
    1 (6 oz) pkg chocolate chips
    1 c. chopped nuts

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Combine cake mix, margarine and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread half in ungreased 9-by-13-inch cake pan. Bake for 6 minutes.
    3. Melt caramels and remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk together. Pour over baked cake. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Dot with remaining half of cake batter, pressing down a little.
    4. Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Cool before cutting.
