    1 egg, separated
    milk
    2 ½ c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. Crisco shortening
    2 (21 oz each) cans cherry pie filling
    1 tbsp. water
    1 c. powdered sugar
    ½ tsp. vanilla extract

    Directions

    1. Add enough milk to egg yolk to equal 2/3 cup liquid.
    2. Mix flour, salt, shortening and yolk/milk mixture. Mix as to form pie crust. Roll out half the dough. Line an 11-by-17-by-1-inch jelly roll pan.
    3. Spread pie filling over crust.
    4. Roll out remaining dough. Place over pie filling and seal edges.
    5. Poke some holes in top of crust to vent. Beat reserved egg white until stiff. Brush over top of crust.
    6. Bake at 400 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes.
    7. Mix water, powdered sugar and vanilla. Drizzle over hot crust.
    8. Cut bars when cooled.
